Students in McKendree University's concert band, wind ensemble, percussion ensemble, jazz ensemble, and jazz combo participated in McKendree's Fall Instrumental Showcase Concert on Wednesday, Nov. 15 at the Hettenhausen Center for the Arts.

Breanna Sampo of Peru, Ill., has been awarded a Fellowship worth $8,500 by The Honor Society of Phi Kappa Phi - the nation's oldest and most selective collegiate honor society for all academic disciplines. Sampo is one of 62 recipients nationwide to receive a Phi Kappa Phi Fellowship.

Juniors Anna Leitner and Aaron Brown, along with Joe Blasdel, director of speech and debate at McKendree University, explored contemporary and traditional Japanese life and connected with students from around the world in June as guests of Technos International College in Tokyo. Technos International College partners with McKendree and other universities around the world to promote Japanese culture and to strengthen American-Japanese ties in an annual study program. This is the first time since students have met in person for the annual event since 2019, due to the coronavirus pandemic.

McKendree University welcomes the Class of 2027 to its Lebanon, Ill., campus, the Center at Scott Air Force Base, and online. The new first-year class represents 35 states and 28 countries.

Students in the McKendree University jazz ensemble participated in a jazz festival performance on Wednesday, May 3 at the Hettenhausen Center for the Arts. Sixty students from 24 local junior high and high schools also participated.
