McKendree University psychology graduate, Mia Wylie '25, psychology student, Kelsey Lyles '26, and biopsychology student, Divine Favour Ozomma '26, have coauthored a peer-reviewed article on academic taboos in psychology education. The article appears in Scholarship of Teaching and Learning in Psychology, a journal published by the American Psychological Association that features research on effective teaching in the field of psychology.

McKendree University psychology students presented their research at the ILLOWA Undergraduate Psychology Conference hosted by Western Illinois University on April 26 in Macomb, Ill. ILLOWA is the nation's longest-running undergraduate psychology conference and draws student researchers from Illinois, Iowa, and Missouri.

McKendree University psychology students Mia Wylie, Kelsey Lyles, and Divine Favour Ozomma have coauthored a peer-reviewed article on mental illness stigma in the academic journal Stigma and Health. The journal, published by the American Psychological Association, features original research on how stigma affects the health and well-being of people with mental and physical illnesses.

McKendree University psychology students senior Mia Wylie, junior Kelsey Lyles, and junior Divine Favour Ozomma presented two research posters at the Midwestern Psychological Association's Annual Convention from April 10 through 12 in Chicago. The students collaborated with their research supervisor, psychology professor Dr. Guy Boysen, as part of the Psychology Research Practicum and Honors Practicum courses.

McKendree University students participated in the Federation of Independent Illinois Colleges and Universities' Lobby Day at the Illinois State Capitol in Springfield on April 30.

Two McKendree University students were recently crowned as McKendree University's 2024 Homecoming Royalty during Homecoming Weekend on Saturday, Oct. 12.

McKendree University senior Sonia Halabi was recently presented with the Outstanding Aspiring Educator of the Year award for her involvement in participating in the State of Illinois's webinars throughout the year. She received a plaque for this distinguishment during the annual Aspiring Educators Conference this April in Bloomington, Ill.

Senior Sonia Halabi, a sociology major at McKendree University from South Barrington, Ill., had the opportunity to attend a few international conventions over the summer.

Harley DeMuth, a chemistry major at McKendree University, presented at the Arkansas IDeA Network of Biomedical Research Excellence (INBRE) conference on Saturday, Nov. 4 at the University in Arkansas in Fayetteville, Ark.

Two McKendree University students were recently crowned as McKendree University's 2022 Homecoming Royalty during Homecoming Weekend on Saturday, Oct. 21.

Juniors Anna Leitner and Aaron Brown, along with Joe Blasdel, director of speech and debate at McKendree University, explored contemporary and traditional Japanese life and connected with students from around the world in June as guests of Technos International College in Tokyo. Technos International College partners with McKendree and other universities around the world to promote Japanese culture and to strengthen American-Japanese ties in an annual study program. This is the first time since students have met in person for the annual event since 2019, due to the coronavirus pandemic.

Senior Peyton Osgood, a psychology major, and McKendree alum Colby Price, who majored in biopsychology, recently authored and published an article on evolutionary psychology in the peer-reviewed research journal Evolutionary Behavioral Sciences. Peyton and Colby teamed up with their research supervisor, Dr. Guy A. Boysen, professor of psychology at McKendree University, to author the paper.

Maria Vitoria Salomao, a junior who is majoring in international relations at McKendree University, recently competed at the St. Louis Regional Entrepreneur Educators' (STL REE) first-annual pitch competition on Thursday, April 13 in St. Louis, Mo.

McKendree University and the ALL IN Campus Democracy Challenge (ALL IN) recently announced that Naya Busbea, a junior political science major, has been recognized as part of the 2023 ALL IN Student Voting Honor Roll. The ALL IN Student Voting Honor Roll awards college students doing outstanding work to advance nonpartisan democratic engagement at participating campuses.

Two McKendree University students were recently crowned as McKendree University's 2022 Homecoming Royalty during Homecoming Weekend on Saturday, Oct. 29. Additionally, two more students were chosen as Attendant Finalists.

McKendree University junior Naya Busbea, a political science major, and Dr. Ann Collins, professor of political science, teamed up to discuss midterm voting in a presentation called "What's Up with the Midterm Elections?" on Wednesday, Oct. 26 during the University's weekly Brown Bag event.

Emmanuel Segbedzi, a senior at McKendree University, was recently named a Student Member of the Illinois Board of Higher Education (IBHE). The computer science major was appointed to join the Student Advisory Committee on the Board on August 18 and was officially announced a student board member by Executive Board Director Ginger Ostro on September 27 in Springfield.

Three graduate students in McKendree University's clinical mental health counseling program co-presented "Stress-Related Disorders Impacting Children through College-Aged Students: Strategies for Promoting Reconnection & Resiliency in Clientele" during the Illinois Counseling Association's virtual conference on April 22.

Antione Watson, a junior at McKendree University, was recently named one of 19 randomly selected winners in Sodexo's "Share the Wealth Sweepstakes" as part of its spring resident dining promotion series. This national prize sweepstakes gave students across the United States the chance to win one of 19 $500 donations. These donations are made in their name to their campus food pantry or a local hunger-related charity.

Students from CHEM 100 got the chance to observe gas laws at work at Scuba World, Inc. in Swansea, Ill. The students used this experience to help them write a paper linking the time underwater to three gas laws they are currently studying.

Three McKendree University psychology alumni were recently informed that their article titled "Evidence for a Gender Stereotype About Psychology and its Effects on Perceptions of Men's and Women's Fit in the Field" was accepted for publication.
