McKendree University congratulates its Class of 2025 graduates on their achievements! #McK2025

Congratulations to the McKendree University students and Class of 2025 graduates whose work is published in the Spring 2025 issue of Scholars: The McKendree University Online Journal of Undergraduate Research.

Zane Phillips, an international relations major from Chambersburg, Ill., received the 2025 Technos International Prize on Friday, May 9 during the undergraduate commencement ceremony. The Technos International Prize is given each year by the Tanaka Ikueikai Educational Trust for outstanding academic achievement and a commitment to the cause of international understanding.

English major Jasmine Gage has been awarded a Gyo Obata Fellowship for Arts Management by the Gateway Foundation in St. Louis.

McKendree University psychology students presented their research at the ILLOWA Undergraduate Psychology Conference hosted by Western Illinois University on April 26 in Macomb, Ill. ILLOWA is the nation's longest-running undergraduate psychology conference and draws student researchers from Illinois, Iowa, and Missouri.

McKendree University psychology students Mia Wylie, Kelsey Lyles, and Divine Favour Ozomma have coauthored a peer-reviewed article on mental illness stigma in the academic journal Stigma and Health. The journal, published by the American Psychological Association, features original research on how stigma affects the health and well-being of people with mental and physical illnesses.

McKendree University's concert and chamber choirs performed one last concert for the semester by presenting "The Poet Sings" on Thursday, May 1 at the Hettenhausen Center for the Arts on campus. The choirs were under the direction of Ken Tucker and accompanied by Melissa Ray on piano.

Students from McKendree University's honors jazz band took to the stage to perform beautiful music for the crowd on Wednesday, April 30 at the Hettenhausen Center for the Arts on campus. Students from local junior high and high schools joined them as well.

McKendree University psychology students senior Mia Wylie, junior Kelsey Lyles, and junior Divine Favour Ozomma presented two research posters at the Midwestern Psychological Association's Annual Convention from April 10 through 12 in Chicago. The students collaborated with their research supervisor, psychology professor Dr. Guy Boysen, as part of the Psychology Research Practicum and Honors Practicum courses.
