The Lincoln Academy of Illinois has presented McKendree University senior Himani Patel with The Abraham Lincoln Civic Engagement Award, the state's highest student honor.

The McKendree University speech and debate team competed at its home debate tournament on Oct, 20-22, and at the University of Central Missouri on Oct. 21-22, earning 56 awards--including 11 first place finishes--between the two.

McKendree University students represented the Bangladesh delegation at the American Model United Nations conference in Chicago, Nov 18-22. More than 1,200 students from 90 universitites attended the international conference.

The McKendree University Department of Theatre presents "The Green Bird," an 18th century commedia dell'arte play by Carlo Gozzi, Nov. 2-5 at the Hettenhausen Center for the Arts on campus. Performances are on Nov. 2 and 3 at 7:30 p.m., Nov. 4 at 1:30 p.m., and Nov. 5 at 2:30 p.m. Admission is free.

Teagan Schwab, an organizational communication major from Neenah, Wis., is spending the fall semester of her senior year at the American University of Rome. When she isn't in class, studying, or finding her way around the city, Teagan is sightseeing, taking photos, and blogging about her adventures.

The McKendree University Show Choir is a talented, versatile group of student vocalists and musicians that entertains on campus and in local communities. The Fall Recital on Oct. 13 is a showcase for members' individual vocal talents in contemporary musical theater, pop, R&B, jazz and more. The group will also perform during downtown Lebanon's Victorian Holidays on Nov. 18, and at a "Christmas Spectacular" show on Dec. 1 at the Hettenhausen Center for the Arts.

McKendree University students are acquiriing valuable experience and skills at a variety of locations during their fall semester internships.

The McKendree University speech and debate team opened its season recently with stellar performances at two elite tournaments, taking second place in debate at William Jewell College and reaching the finals in two events at Western Kentucky University.
