McKendree University Hosts Nearly 400 FBLA Students for Regional Competition

Lebanon, IL (01/20/2026) — (LEBANON, Ill., Jan. 20, 2026) - McKendree University hosted approximately 400 local Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA) high school students, who took part in competitions and workshops on campus on Thursday, Jan. 8. Students from 8 schools across the region participated, including Carlyle High School, Central Community High School, Collinsville High School, Freeburg High School, Mascoutah High School, O'Fallon Township High School, South Central High School, and Triad High School.

The day began with a breakfast reception in the lobby of McKendree's Hettenhausen Center for the Arts (The Hett), followed by an opening ceremony. McKendree University President Daniel Dobbins welcomed the students to campus and offered remarks to kick off the event. Following the ceremony, students proceeded to the Piper Academic Center (PAC) and designated areas within The Hett to participate in competitions across multiple categories, including accounting, advertising, agribusiness, business communication, cybersecurity, journalism, graphic design, public speaking, and more.

Following lunch, workshops, and a few games, the winners of the various competitions were announced and given awards before the end of the event.
