Rachael Valbert is on McKendree University Homecoming Court

Rachael Valbert, a McKendree University senior elementary education major from Granite City, is a candidate for 2013 Homecoming Queen. A Presidential Scholar, she was an individual winner in 2011 and 2012 of the "McKendree's Got Talent" competitions. She is a member of the Alpha Psi Omega and Kappa Delta Pi honor societies for theatre and education, and the Alpha Phi Omega service fraternity. She also works with the Girl Scouts and tutors for the Lebanon Kids organization.

Candidates are determined by their application and an interview with a panel of judges. Interviews are scored on the candidates' ability to exemplify the qualities of leadership, spirit, integrity and achievement through their involvement at McKendree University. Selection is determined by the candidate's initial application, interview scores and student voting results.

The king and queen will be crowned at the Headphone Disco dance party on Friday, Oct. 4, and the entire court will be introduced at the homecoming parade and football game on Saturday, Oct., 5.
