McKendree Student Holly Raesly Returns from London and Paris

2013 May 31

Holly Raesly, of Mascoutah, was among a group of nine McKendree University students who traveled to London and Paris May 20 to 27 as part of a faculty-led study abroad course. Raesly is a psychology major.

The course combined on-campus study with an international experience led by two psychology professors, Dr. J.L. Kemp and Dr. Linda Hoffman. Traveling in a small group with familiar faculty members gave students an excellent introduction to the study abroad experience as they gained an appreciation for the history and culture of London and Paris.

Their eight-day tour included visits to Windsor Castle, Sigmund Freud's London home, the Cathedral of Notre Dame and the Louvre in Paris. Before their trip, the students sampled English and French foods such as clotted cream, lemon curd and goat cheese, and practiced conversational French and the British translation of certain American words.

McKendree University ranks among the top quarter of regional universities nationwide in U.S. News and World Report's "Best Colleges" for 2013. It offers 50 undergraduate academic majors and graduate programs in education, professional counseling, business administration and nursing. Learn more at www.mckendree.edu.
