Matthew Roddy is on McKendree University Homecoming Court

Matthew Roddy, a McKendree University senior sociology-criminal justice major from New Athens, is a candidate for 2013 Homecoming King. He is a Student Government Association senator, New Student Orientation co-coordinator, and a member of the Advanced Leaders group. His volunteer activities have included the Emerging Leaders' chili cookoff on campus, and Stray Rescue.

Candidates are determined by their application and an interview with a panel of judges. Interviews are scored on the candidates' ability to exemplify the qualities of leadership, spirit, integrity and achievement through their involvement at McKendree University. Selection is determined by the candidate's initial application, interview scores and student voting results.

The king and queen will be crowned at the Headphone Disco dance party on Friday, Oct. 4, and the entire court will be introduced at the homecoming parade and football game on Saturday, Oct., 5.
