Maranda Harris and McKendree U. Cheer Team Take 3rd at Nationals

2014 Apr 17

Maranda Harris helped the McKendree University cheer team capture the third place trophy in the Small Coed Division II at the National Cheerleaders Association's national competition in Daytona Beach, Fla., April 8-13. Nearly 7,000 student athletes and coaches from 35 states, Japan, Canada and Costa Rica tested their technical skills, showmanship and game day abilities in the world's largest college cheer and dance championship meet.

Maranda, a McKendree first-year, is on the 28-member squad, most of whom had never before competed at the national level. Head Cheerleading Coach Bianca Timmerman says she could not be more proud of her hard-working team and its third place finish, the best in McKendree's history. The squad cheers on the Bearcats at home football games and at men's and women's home basketball games.
