Hanalei Mills Performs in Concert at McKendree's Hett Center

2013 Nov 21

Hanalei Mills, will perform with McKendree University's Marching Bearcat Band and PomCats dance team in a free concert at 7:30 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 22 at the Hettenhausen Center for the Arts. Hanalei, a junior psychology major, plays the baritone.

The concert culminates the band's 2013 season, encompassing its pre-game show, five halftime shows and music learned specifically for this performance. Rather than playing a supporting role for McKendree's Bearcat athletic programs, "this is the one time where the Marching Bearcats, color guard, drumline and dance team are the show," said David Boggs, director of bands. "Our drum majors, section leaders and seniors have played integral roles in keeping the band focused and on track throughout the season. Each band member has worked many, many hours towards this production. This has been one of our best seasons yet."

The Hettenhausen Center for the Arts is Southern Illinois' premier performing arts venue, presenting world class dance, drama, classical music and jazz. "The Hett" provides McKendree's theater and music students a state-of-the-art venue in which to showcase their talents. For more information, visit www.mckendree.edu or www.theHett.com
