Dakota Reed Participates in McKendree University Play

2013 Oct 15

Dakota Reed is taking part in McKendree University's production of "The Dead Guy" at the Hettenhausen Center for the Arts, Oct. 24 to 27. Dakota is the master electrician and light board operator.

Written by Eric Coble, the show is about the next big hit in reality TV. The biggest "loser" the producers can find is given $1 million dollars to spend in a week. His life will be filmed non-stop and broadcast each evening. The catch? On Sunday, he will die--and America's viewing public will choose how.

"This show touches on a lot of current issues--reality TV, exploitation, how far we are willing to go for entertainment, the Midwest as 'flyover country,' family relationships, and the idea that money can solve all problems," said Michelle Magnussen, associate professor of theater.

"The Hett" is Southern Illinois' premier performing arts venue, presenting world class dance, drama, classical music and jazz. The 488-seat auditorium provides McKendree's theater and music students a state-of-the-art venue in which to showcase their talents. www.theHett.com.
